Forms in Absence

During my visit to the Acropolis Museum in Athens, I was captivated by the fragmented archeological remains displayed, each piece offering a glimpse into a lost grandeur. What intrigued me most was the shapes that survived. Traces of limbs, faint outlines of sculpted drapery—suggesting a whole that could only be imagined. Observing how these fragments were assembled with such precision, despite their incomplete state, inspired me to delve deeper into these forms.
In this work, I set out to mirror the fragments by identically copying their shapes, then re-envisioning them as complete forms. Through this process, these remnants become standalone works of aesthetic beauty, embracing the depth and intrigue found within the partial and the incomplete.
